In The Beginning

Many people have asked me why in these times, would we start our own real estate company.  I asked myself that very question for over two years.

I started in real estate in 1989 as a successful agent, then moved into brokering for a small office.  As the company grew, I eventually was in charge of the largest office with over 45 agents.

My passion for real estate grew with each new adventure, growing in management, market share, and involvement with the local and state Realtor Associations.

The next natural step was to open my office. BUT, why give up a comfortable office, consistent paycheck, and job security? Have you ever woke in the morning and were no longer excited, or fulfilled about what you were going to carry out each day? As a managing woman, the glass ceiling kept getting lower and lower and there was just no way for me to break through.  Or so I thought.

I spoke to one of my best friends, Helen.  I told her of my thoughts and asked her if she would help me look at some properties.  Of course the adventure for just the right space, at the right price was upon us.

We searched for several months.  Mostly because I was just not sure that I was making the right decision to leave the comforts of my current job, to the not so sure move to, “Can I go this alone?”

After many conversations with John, looking for just the right site in Greenville, South Carolina, and lots and lots of prayer, I decided and took the giant step of faith. We would open our own Real Estate company in Greenville, South Carolina.

One afternoon, during our searching adventures, Helen asked me if I would consider a partner.  (I was already in the middle of negotiations with another potential investor/partner at the time.) Now, having a partner who knew the business, had clients, and ready to dive in with me was a no brainer!

The Gajda’s and the Gutbrod’s sat down with a glass of wine, a notebook & pen, a bank statement, and the company was formed.
