For no bigger than it is, Greenville is a versatile city, boasting a plethora of kid-friendly activities, accommodating everyone from your little outdoor explorer to your speed racer. These family activities combine both the inside and outside, for that warm spring afternoon, or a cool, rainy winter evening.
1. GREENVILLE ZOO – Enjoy an African Safari or an excursion through the swamps. All this is possible at the Greenville Zoo, without putting a dent in your wallet. In addition to all the zoo favorites, children may enjoy the farm animals the most. Located inside Cleveland Park, kids can release their own inner animal on the park’s playgrounds. Admission is a measly $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
2. South Carolina Children’s Theatre – Do you have a budding Romeo on your hands? Let your children take in the wonder and energy that performers at the South Carolina Children’s Theatre bring. Your children will be pulled into their favorite stories, while you relive all your classics, with shows that have included the Sound of Music, Sleeping Beauty and How I Became a Pirate.
3. Frankie’s Fun Park – Great for a summer or winter outing, fun is had by all at Frankie’s Fun Park. Leave your kids to a game of miniature golf, while you speed around one of the Go-Kart Tracks. While younger kids may enjoy arcade games and bumper boats, teenagers can take a swing in the batting cage or battle it out with laser tag. If you get hungry, Johnny Rockets is next door.
4. BMW Zentrum and Gallery – Great for your young speed racer, or your own lead-footed self, the BMW Zentrum Gallery chronicles the history of BMW. Take a look at some of BMW’s oldest models, such as their line of motorcycles, and check out their latest vehicles, which are being built in the factory itself, which is attached to the BMW Zentrum and Gallery. If you’re lucky enough and visit during the right time of year, you may be able to get a tour of the factory and watch a brand new BMW being built. Admission to the Gallery is free, while you can catch a tour for just $5.
5. LIBERTY BRIDGE & FALLS PARK ON THE REEDY – One of the coolest and most popular attractions in Greenville, Liberty Bridge and Falls Park are perfect for a spring or fall afternoon. Bring some blankets, a picnic and a frisbee to enjoy a full afternoon, taking in downtown Greenville and the Reedy River. Visit on a summer evening and you can catch a Shakespeare play. Don’t forget your camera, as this is one of the most photographed parts of Greenville.
